Hello, my Name is Shah Akther (she/her).You may address me as Shah. I was born and raised in Bangladesh and began attending school here in the fifth grade. I speak both English and Bangla but I’m fluent in Bangla because it is my mother language. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity that has been provided to me as my parents simply moved here to give me the chance to have a better future. Here in city college I am pursuing computer engineering as my major. I am not particularly fond of reading, however if it is essential I don’t mind. But one of the books that has specifically caught my attention is “I am Malala”. It tells the story of a Pakistani girl who was shot in the head by Taliban for publicly speaking on the Prohibition on the education of girls, where she managed to survive and became the inspiration of many girl. I’m hoping this course helps me improve my writing because I tend to make a lot of grammatical errors and often struggle with organizing my essays. With any luck this class will help me prepare for the Grove School Of Engineering Inshaallah (if God wills). I joined the bowling team in high school just for fun but I ended up liking it a lot as I was awarded with the (MIP) the most improved player award. I am so proud of it! During my free time, I like watching Korean dramas. There are quite a few that I enjoy but “alchemy of souls” is my personal favorite one. This led me to arouse my interest about traveling to South Korea and getting to know more about the local cultures. One of my hobbies is doing henna; for those of you who are unfamiliar, it is a type of temporary tattoo typically applied on the hands, not the best but generally speaking I enjoy anything related to art.
